At Last Excerpt
"The evening started out quite well. Initially, the party of four enjoyed
themselves. They shared laughs and traded barbs as they had for so many
years, poking fun at whomever seemed to be behind the post, three ganging up on
the one, in turn. For the most part , their banter was harmless, until
Richard took a swing at Helen's taste in women. From there, the evening
went downhill. It took a particularly nasty turn when Richard stepped
completely out of line by suggesting to Helen that she might make a better date
if she paid him a little more attention, then accused her of sneaking off to the
bathroom to call Noami, when she had done no such thing."
As Helen approaches a new milestone in her life, she finds that , she has
arrived at such a crossroads. A mother and wife, she realizes that
something is missing from her life. When memories long buried begin to
encroach upon her present, Helen, a succesful writer, is forced to acknowledge
that something is missing from her life. She meets a young female artist,
her husband has hired to paint her portrait as a birthday present, and this
changes her life completely. As she gets to know the brilliant painter
better, she discovers just what she has been missing.
